Canoe Tours
Wildlife/Moose canoe tours, May 6th- July 31st

May 6th kicks off our canoe tour season, this time of year is just amazing! Everything comes to life! The plants and the wildlife just explode with life.

We offer morning and afternoon tours. The morning is an early trip; often in the canoe just before the sun comes up in time to catch the silence and also to hear the wakening cry of the loon along with many other the animals. The afternoon on the water is often just as peaceful, this tour starts while its still light and continues until dark.

The main reason for taking a canoe tour however, is the Moose! We tour the very same ponds that moose in this area frequent in the spring, Moose come to these water bodies to escape the flies, cool off and gorge themselves on sodium rich plants. The females tend to give birth next to these water bodies and even on islands within these water bodies, therefore reducing the risk of predation from bears and coyotes.

There is a great possibility to see many other species of wildlife on these canoe tours, such as Geese, Loon, Bald Eagles, Deer and Black Bear as well as several species of duck are not uncommon this time of year.

Your tour will take place early in the morning (first light) or later in the afternoon till dark, whichever you choose.

I will take out 2 people at a time and clients should pair up when booking a canoe tour but it's not necessary.

You may bring food and drinks with you, however, there is No Alcohol allowed.

There is also No Smoking while in the canoe! Moose have a very sensitive nose, as do most animals we may encounter and the wind direction is very important but while in a canoe you cannot always work around the wind, so keeping the scent to a minimum is essential to viewing moose in the wild.

I use an old town Sportsman 15.6 foot canoe and US Coast Guard approved
Type 2 life vests.
WHAT TO BRING CANOE TOURS:

There is not much needed on the canoe tours except for your camera and a good pair of binoculars, food or snacks and drinks.

I will have life vests available for chest sizes 30" - 52", anything smaller or larger then those sizes please let me know in advance so I can have the correct size prior to tour.

NO SMOKING OR ALCOHOL ALLOWED ON TOUR
